Director of Adult Programs
Born in Los Angeles, Chile, Claudio graduated from Belhaven University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.
Claudio played college tennis and in Futures tournaments (professional tournaments). He was ranked #13 as best Chilean and participated in ITF (International Tennis Federation) and COSAT (Confederation South American Tennis) tournaments. During his college career he also built experience as a coach, teaching juniors and adults at Parham Bridges Tennis Center.
Claudio Adolfssen has been with us for several months and many of you already know him. If you haven't met Claudio yet, come out to drills on Tuesday or Thursday and you will meet an amazing coach. Claudio is our Tennis Professional who will be serving as the director of adult programs and will be your primary tennis contact. He has some wonderful plans for the future of tennis at the club and we are so glad to have him as part of our team. He coaches some of our early development clinics as well as adult drills, group lessons, and private lessons.

Director of Junior Programs
Hernan Hatem joins our team as the Tennis Professional who will be serving as the director of junior programs. Hernan will focus on growing and instructing our early development camps and clinics as well as directing the junior tennis academy with Matias. Hernan is planning great things for the future of junior tennis, so now is the time to get your juniors involved! Hernan also holds the PTR (Professional tennis register) credentials working with high level players on the performance areas of their games. Hernan Hatem joined the Southwestern College tennis staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2016-17 season. A native of San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina, Hatem played collegiately for two years at perennial junior college power Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) and two years at NAIA powerhouse Georgia Gwinnett College. During his freshman year, he was named the Georgia Athletic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and an NJCAA ALL AMERICAN. That same year, Hatem reached the quarterfinals at No. 1 singles and the finals of No. 3 doubles at the NJCAA national championships. As a sophomore, he was ranked among the top 10 players in the nation at the junior college level and reached the semifinals at JUCO nationals, playing No. 2 singles. On his Junior College Career he has made numerous accomplishments on the fall seasons.
After his 2 years at ABAC, he transferred to NAIA Georgia Gwinnett College. There, he played number 2-3 singles during his junior year, and posted an undefeated doubles record, while losing just one singles match. In 2014, the Georgia Gwinnett team won the NAIA National Championship having him as an important part of the successful program as player and as team captain. The Men’s tennis team also made the honor roll at Georgia Gwinnett, obtaining the highest GPA in the athletic department both years that Hatem played there.
In the fall of 2014, Hatem accepted an assistant coach position at NCAA Division I Kennesaw State University, where he was the men’s assistant coach in the fall of 2014 and the Men’s and Women’s assistant coach during the spring of 2015. Hatem earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.
In the fall of 2016, Hatem accepted the graduate assistant coach position at NAIA Southwestern College. Hernan served Southwestern College 2016-2018 seasons as a Men’s and Women’s assistant coach helping the Women’s tennis team achieve a conference title in the Spring of 2018 and the automatic bid for the NAIA national tournament winning the playoffs against powerhouse McPherson college. During his coaching time at Southwestern College, Hatem was able to obtain his Masters of Business administration (MBA) with a cumulative GPA of 3, 86 while coaching two programs at the same time.
Hernan Brings to Summit Chase an admirable tennis experience throughout South America, North America accomplishing numerous awards in his junior, college, and professional tennis career.
High Performance Academy Director
Matias Hatem, born in Tucuman, Argentina, has been Director of the Junior Tennis Academy working with beginner, intermediate and high-performance players, and he is also available for private instructions at any level.
Matias comes to Summit Chase with a remarkable tennis experience throughout South and North America, accomplishing numerous awards in his junior, college, and professional career. Matias holds the Professional rating at the Performance workshop for the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) working with young players on correction of all strokes and drill based training.
During his junior career, Matias was ranked 5th in the Argentine National Ranking of 16 & Under, winning a National G1, runner-up in Master Copa Prince and reaching the semi-finals in COSAT Copa el Ceibo, during 2008. Matias also achieved numerous titles in National G2 throughout his junior years. He was recognized as “Athlete of the year” by Tennis Associations, newspapers, and other entities several times in his home city.
Matias earned much success as a college player. During his freshman year at Georgia State University, he set the record of most consecutive matches won as a freshman (15) giving him the award of “CAA Rookie Player of the Year” and “ALL-CAA First Team Singles” in his conference. While playing at Georgia Gwinnett College, he has led his team, as the captain, to three consecutive NAIA National Championships (2014, 2015, 2016) and was also selected as NAIA First Team All-American during those years.
Matias is well known for his dedication and hard work on and off the court. He believes in a well-rounded development of the player, working on the pillars aspects of successful coaching: technical, strategic, mental, and physical.We are excited to announce a restructure of roles in our tennis department.
The future is bright for Matias! He is an excellent coach of high performance junior athletes and will be pursuing that part of his career as his primary focus. While he continues to coach the junior Tennis Academy, he will also focus on some elite players, often traveling around the world for tournaments. We are fortunate to have one such elite athlete training with Matias now and she is a powerhouse on the court. If you have never seen our super star hit the ball, you should stop by for one of her sessions. Matias is truly coaching a world-class player. We will miss having him in the daily operation of tennis at Summit Chase, but he will continue to train junior academy players as well as his elite athletes. We look forward to cheering for Matias and all of the great junior players he coaches. He will still be available for private lessons and is always happy to help when his schedule allows.
Dub has been a PTR certified and insured tennis instructor for many years. He believes in teaching tennis by the FEW method: Fun + Exercise = Winner.
In addition to adult drills and lessons, Dub offers ‘Quick Fix Tennis', a 30 minute lesson for $25.00 which concentrates on an area where you need extra work such as forehand, backhand, volley, etc. He also offers tennis ball machine rental for $25.00 which includes 30 minutes of related instruction.
He is presently running our Monday Night beginner's lessons from 6:00 to 6:45 pm and Monday Night Round Robins from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Both are free to members and $12.00 for guests. Additionally, at various times during the year, he holds fun Friday morning round robins which are free of charge to members and their guests.
